Environmental Review Specialist, El Dorado Irrigation District
The selected individual will be responsible for the preparation and review of environmental documentation and analyses of environmental impacts of District projects, ensuring compliance with State and Federal environmental laws. The individual will also be responsible for management of mitigation monitoring programs and coordination with County on environmental review of developer projects. He/she will direct and review the work of environmental consultants. Particular experience in cultural resources management is desired but not required.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in environmental studies, cultural or natural resources management, planning or other appropriate discipline and four years of increasingly responsible environmental planning experience including experience coordinating and reviewing the work of consultants or staff, and the preparation of complex environmental reports. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one year experience equals one year of education.
In addition, documented proof of right-to-work in the U.S., DMV printout and a District paid pre-employment examination; including drug testing and a full background investigation are required prior to employment. Continued maintenance of a valid California driver's license of the required category, compliance with established District vehicle operation standards and the ability to be insured for the operation of a vehicle/District vehicle in accordance with the terms and conditions of the District's insurance program are conditions of continuing employment.

The selected individual will be a member of the Cultural Resources section on Edwards Air Force Base. Responsibilities will include all aspects of archaeological fieldwork, laboratory work, and documentation of these processes. LSA’s Irvine office is seeking an Architectural Historian/Historian to work as a Senior Cultural Resources Manager. The selected individual will work with the LSA team during all phases of cultural resources management, with a focus on managing projects with complex regulatory (state and federal) and/or resource issues. The selected candidate will: (1) work with clients and agencies; (2) manage budgets and schedules; (3) direct personnel; (4) oversee fieldwork and research; (5) write reports; and, (6) prepare proposals. Projects can be multidisciplinary, involving cultural resources management, prehistoric and historical archaeology, traditional cultural properties, and all phases of environmental planning.
The candidate should have the following qualifications or equivalent: at least an M.A./M.S. in Historic Preservation, History, Cultural Resources Management, or other closely related field, with an emphasis in architectural history or history. The candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of experience, including historic field surveys, context statements, and supervision of archival and field research and reporting, as well as previous project management experience, with an ability to work on multiple projects. Experience in California cultural resources management with a working knowledge of federal and state cultural resources regulatory compliance is preferred. Preferred candidate will meet the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications for an Architectural Historian or Historian.

Position: Principal Investigator/Paleontologist, LSA
LSA’s Carlsbad office is seeking a Paleontologist who has a minimum of 10 years of experience (the majority of which is in San Diego County) in the supervision of field identification and recovery, laboratory preparation, cataloging and scientific identification, transfer for storage, reporting, and previous project management experience, including the ability to work on multiple projects. The selected candidate must have a working relationship with the San Diego Natural History Museum and must be recognized by the Museum as a qualified Principal Investigator. The selected individual will work with the LSA team during all project phases with a focus on managing projects with complex regulatory (state and federal) and/or resource issues. The selected candidate will: (1) work with clients and agencies; (2) manage budgets and schedules; (3) direct personnel; (4) oversee field and laboratory work; (5) write reports; and (6) prepare proposals. Projects can be multidisciplinary, involving cultural resources management and biology. Fieldwork will occur primarily in San Diego County.
Candidates should have at least an M.S. in Paleontology or a closely related field, such as geology or paleobiology. Candidates must have proven knowledge of San Diego County paleontology and geology and have documented experience in professional paleontological procedures and techniques. Position: Archaeologist, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southwest
Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southwest (NAVFAC SW) in San Diego is seeking candidates for a position as an Archaeologist within its Cultural Resources team. As part of the U.S. Department of the Navy, NAVFAC SW provides contract support and technical expertise to military installations in California, Nevada, and Arizona for the management of their cultural resources and for compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), the Archaeological and Historic Preservation Act of 1974, the Native American Graves and Repatriation Act, and Executive Order 11593 (Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural Environment).
Selectee will develop skills in performing a variety of tasks designed to prepare them for performance of professional cultural resources work. Assignments are varied to acquire a working knowledge of guides, methods and techniques used in solving various problems. Selectee will conduct archaeological research and provide technical expertise related to the inventories, surveys, evaluations, and data collection of archaeological and historic resources. Selectee will gain experience in consulting with interested members of the public on Navy and Marine Corps projects under Section 106 of the NHPA and working closely with the State Historic Preservation Officer. Selectee will also gain experience in balancing cultural resources protection with Navy and Marine Corps projects such as construction, building repair and maintenance, and installation redevelopment.
Selectee will receive formal and on-the-job instruction and training, to familiarize with technical programs, work techniques, and operating procedures, and to provide experience in the practical application of archaeology or historic resources. Assists senior Archaeologist or works as a team member. Individuals successfully completing the program may be non-competitively converted to a permanent Federal position.
Starting Salary Range: $38,196.00 - $60,736.00 per year
Basic Requirements:
A.
- Degree: that included 3 semester hours each in the following course areas:
- History of archaeology
- Archaeology of a major geographical area such as North America or Africa
- Regional archeology, archeological cultures, or sites in a specific part or portion of a major geographical area to acquire or develop a foundation for regional specialization for professional development
- Theory and methods of archeology. Methods include, but are not limited to, typology, classification, sampling, cultural evolution, diffusion, dating, and analytical techniques
- Archaeological field school, to provide a basic understanding of theoretical and practical approaches to research design implementation, field preservation techniques, and report preparation by participation in actual field work
AND
- Six semester hours of related course work in:
- geography, geology, or cultural geography
- history, historiography, or historical archeology
- environmental studies
- scientific writing (nonfiction English composition), and/or
- surveying
AND
- Archeological field school
OR
- Related Curriculum -- Degree in anthropology (with emphasis on ethnology, physical anthropology, or scientific linguistics), history, American studies, or a related discipline may be accepted as satisfying in full the educational requirements, provided the curriculum supplied academic course work sufficiently similar to the requirements in A.1 (including archeological field school).

B.
- Combination of education and experience-- College-level education or training that provided knowledge equivalent to that described in A above, plus appropriate technical experience or additional education

- Experience-- four years of archeological work experience that demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional archeology. The work experience must have included archeology field experience, which may include that gained in an archeological field school. Field experience should have included a combination of professional experience in archeological survey, excavation, laboratory analysis, and preparation of written materials. Applicants with such field experience should, after additional experience under the direction of a higher grade archeologist, be able to demonstrate the ability to be a crew chief, directing the work of others at a single location as a part of a larger archeological project.
Highly Desirable Training, Skills, and Experience:
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in archaeology, historical archaeology or a closely related field
- Advanced research and analytical thinking skills

Positions: Geospatial Archaeologists, Statistical Research, Inc.
Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), a multidisciplinary cultural resources consulting firm, has immediate openings for individuals with technical skills in geographic information systems in the company’s Redlands office. SRI’s Department of Cartography and Geospatial Technologies applies a wide range of state-of-the-art geospatial techniques in the field of cultural resource management (CRM), including: geostatistical analysis and EDA, laser scanner and LIDAR data processing and analysis, large-scale geographic information systems design and implementation, high-accuracy GPS and total station mapping, remote and non-intrusive sensing, and 3D visualization and analysis.
Successful candidates will be joining a team of specialists working closely with one of the largest archaeological research staffs in the country on cultural resource projects in California and beyond. A professional development program is available, and professional development is encouraged.
Candidates should have a general knowledge of geospatial methods, including: mathematical spatial analysis, satellite and aerial remote sensing, geographic information systems, global positioning systems, total station surveying, geophysics, spatial visualization, and photogrammetry. Previous CRM experience is preferred.
These are full-time positions that will include some CRM fieldwork opportunities in addition to office-based projects. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. Geospatial Analyst

Assistant Geospatial Analyst
An assistant geospatial analyst is required to oversee the general geospatial and cartographic needs of projects, and assist in the collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of spatial data in a GIS platform. Supervision of the preparation of, as well as the production of, cartographic products using ArcGIS software is also required.
