“Preliminary Description of Cemetery Complex at CA-Ala-343”

Jeffrey T. Hall, Robert Jurmain, and James S. Nelson

Abstract

Recent archeological investigations at CA-Ala-343 have uncovered portions of a prehistoric cemetery complex characterized by both ventrally extended and flexed burials, a few exhibiting elaborate and abundant grave associations. Preliminary analyses of the cemetery complex, including burial distribution and position, osteometrics, and distribution of grave associations, indicated that CA-Ala-343 represents a localized co-mingling of extant Windmiller and Bay traditions in the late Middle Period.
