California State Mining and Mineral Museum
  • Exhibits feature aspects of the state's mining history, including a 1900 stamp mill model

Mariposa Museum and History Center
  • Indoor historical museum and display of one-room miner's cabin
  • Outdoor mining equipment and Indian Village
  • Location: 5119 Jessie Street, corner of 12th and Jessie in Mariposa
  • Open March to October from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., November to December from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and only on weekends during January
  • Admission: donations are accepted

Yosemite Museum
  • Addresses the cultural history of the parklands with a focus on the Sierra Miwok and Paiute people from about 1850 to the present
  • Extensive displays of baskets, tools, and other technological aspect of Native American life
  • Reconstructed interpretive Awahnechee Miwok village
  • Location: Yosemite National Park
  • Open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Admission: $20 per car admission to the park; the museum is free
